NULGE tasks council chairmen on salary payment

Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Gwagwalada chapter, Comrade Isuwa Isher, has tasked area councils’ chairmen to learn how to pay staff salaries as at when due to avoid industrial dispute.
The chairman spoke to our correspondent during a monitoring exercise on compliance of resumption following the union’s suspension of its one month old strike last week.
He thanked members of the union for their support, cooperation and understanding throughout the period of the strike, noting that the union would continue to fight for members' rights and entitlements.
The chairman noted that two month salary arrears of the three being owed was paid and expressed the hope that March salary would be paid in due course as directed by the FCT minister.
Contributing, NULGE chairperson in Kwali, Comrade Rebecca Yakwo, confirmed that the council had cleared its three months arrears, stressing that the payment has motivated majority of the staffers to turn out in large number immediately the strike was called off.
