When Aruma Oteh showed up

Do you remember her? Yea, you do. It is hard to forget Ms. Aruma Oteh, the attractive and brainy ex-Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission, SEC.

It is not just about her compelling presence that one cannot just forget, but the fact that during her tenure she courted controversy with the National Assembly and emerged triumphant.

The matter was not just that she finished her tenure against the insistence of the National Assembly that she be sacked; two House of Reps members are still battling in court to extricate themselves from corruption case related to Oteh.

During the entire furore, the charming damsel maintained her poise, ran her office without a budget from the National Assembly, survived sponsored staff protests and maligned by a section of the country.

Like in all things stormy, there comes the calm when one stays the course is fitting of Aruma Oteh.

After her tenure at SEC, she was appointed by the World Bank and last week, Oteh waltzed into Nigeria and was chaperoned by officials of the Buhari administration led by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Nasir el-Rufa’I of Kaduna state.

From the meetings and the photo ops, it was not difficult to see how these two powerful state officials were fawning over her and giggling like two teens in love for the first time.

Yes, when Aruma Oteh shows up, you cannot fail to take note
