FCT Muslim Pilgrim board releases 2016 Hajj fare
The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has released its approved Hajj fare for this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
A statement from the public relations officer of the board, Muhammad Aliyu, disclosed that the minimum fare this year is one million, thirty two thousand, sixty eight naira, eighty kobo (N1,032,068.80) only with a Basic Travel Allowance of seven hundred and fifty US Dollars ($750.00), while the medium seat goes for one million, eighty one thousand, three hundred and eighteen naira, eighty kobo, (N1,081,318.80) only with a Basic Travel Allowance of one thousand US Dollars ($1000.00).
The statement added that maximum category for this year is one million, one hundred and seventy-nine thousand, eight hundred and eighteen naira, eighty kobo, (N1,179,818.80) only to get a Basic Travel Allowance of $1,500.00.
He stated that intending pilgrims from the FCT for this year's Hajj have up to Friday June 24, 2016 to balance their fare or lose their seats.
The spokesperson explained that the measure has become necessary to enable the board meets up with the deadline for the balance of payment for this year’s Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.
Similarly, the statement warned intending pilgrims who are yet to submit their completed application forms and e-passports to do so before the deadline or have themselves to blame.
He explained that the warning became necessary as the board would soon commence the process of acquiring visa from the Saudi Arabian embassy in Abuja.
Aliyu disclosed that the board has set machineries in motion towards successful Hajj operation and has since acquired befitting accommodation in Makkah to enable the pilgrims from the territory perform their five daily prayers in Haram with less stress.
According to him, “In order to enable the intending pilgrims get value for their money, the board would soon conduct education and orientation exercises at the Hajj camp”.
He therefore, advised intending pilgrims to avail themselves with the opportunity as new policies on the exercise as well as arrangements for the spiritual journey would be taught during the orientation exercise.
