Kemi Adeosun, the fire this time

The coinage of this piece is taken from Jesmyn Ward’s collection of essays, The Fire This Time: A New Generation Speaks about Race.
But it speaks eloquently of the rage the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has faced since last week.
With Nigerians facing dire economic situation, it was only a matter of time for them to go for the jugular of any government official they much as imagine does not feel the pulse of their suffering.
So, last week, the phoney-speaking minister was at the receiving end of their tongues and angst over her alleged tweet indicating that the present economic recession was only a word.
Adeosun is alleged to have tweeted @Mrskemiadeosun: “The strongest of all warriors are these two, Time and Patience. I know people are concerned about recession. Recession is a word…”
Though the minister came out to deny ownership of the twitter handle, screen grabs indicate that tweets from the handle showing her with other government officials or highlighting government’s policies were never denied.
If anything, the ferocity of tongue-lashing was enough to compel whoever was managing the handle to delete it while a new twitter page was put up as belonging to the minister with less followers and little posts.
By now, Adeosun would know that Nigerians are not in the mood for platitudes or a single word out of place concerning what they are going through.
It is without doubt it has been Kemi Adeosun’s Egypt experience!
