Herdsmen want own vigilante in Delta

The Delta state government has been called on to assist in setting up a Fulani herdsmen vigilante service across the state to help in fishing out hoodlums who hide under the guise of herdsmen to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
Alhaji Imam Lawal, Organizing Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kutal Hore in the state, made the appeal while briefing journalists in Asaba.
He regretted that the activities of hoodlums have earned bad image for genuine Fulani herdsmen, maintaining that real Fulani herdsmen do not have time for robbery as they are preoccupied with leading their cattle to grazing areas.
Lawal averred that the Miyetti Allah herdsmen know genuine cattle rearers in the state, and if anything untoward happens they should not be linked with it.
He promised that the vigilante service will work with the police and sister security agencies to fish out bad elements bent on damaging the image of Fulani herdsmen in Delta state.
