Jabi bomb scare: FCT residents urges greater vigilance

A parcel suspected to be an Improvised Explosives Device, IED, was discovered under the Jabi bridge, near Shoprite shopping mall on Thursday.
The police anti-bomb squad discovered the parcel and cordoned off the major access road to the bridge while it inspected the suspicious device.
Our correspondent however found out that the parcel happened to be a container allegedly left under the bridge by the Federal Capital Territory Water Board.
A trader near the Jabi Lake mall confirmed the development, saying that the container was kept under the bridge by the water board officials on Wednesday.
She said, “The police found out that it was not a bomb as speculated. What happened was that someone saw the food cooler and informed the Shoprite security guards about it and they called the police who blocked the road and checked the container for bomb, but nothing was found in it.”
Some FCT residents who spoke to our correspondent urged the police anti bomb squad to enforce better security measures as the end of the year was here and some miscreants might decide to cash in on loose grounds to perpetrate evil.
