In a colourful event themed “Royal March”, the Governor of River State, Professor Ben Ayade alongside his adorable wife, Dr.(Mrs.) Ayade, the former first lady of Cross River State, Mrs. Onari Duke, Mrs. Tourism United Nations World, Ebele Enemchukwu, as well as some of the contestants of the Miss Africa pageant being hosted by the state witnessed the flag off of the second Carnival Calabar Dry Run in readiness for the Carnival proper come December 2016.

The Chairman of the Carnival Calabar Commission, Gabe Onah, gave a brief introductory speech after which he handed the microphone over to the First Lady of the State, who with the assistance of the former First Lady, Mrs. Tourism and Miss Africa Contestants cut the ribbon in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This was followed by a dance march to the adjudication point where more dance steps were displayed by the Governor, his wife and Beauty Queens.

Also present was the International Consultant to Carnival Calabar, Mr. Ikechi Uko who was specially congratulated by the Governor and his wife for a job well done thus far.

The rains came down much later in the evening, but not even that could stop the reggae!
