FCT NAWOJ Condemns Assault On Female Journalist

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ FCT Chapter, has condemned the recent attack on one of her members, Mrs. Josie Mudashiru of the FCTA by a male colleague, Mr. Nnachi Okafor.

The association at the end of her November Congress while condemning the act, described “it as despicable and a spite on womanhood.”

In a statement by Mrs. Grace Njoku, secretary, the NAWOJ FCT called on the Federal Capital Territory Administration and other relevant bodies to look into the matter with a view to ensuring that fairness is upheld.

Njoku quoted the chairperson, FCT NAWOJ, Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene, as saying that no matter the level of provocation, no man should raise his hand against a woman in the work place because there are laid down rules of channeling such grievances for appropriate action.

In another development, the association has called on media houses to ensure prompt payment of its workers, especially the womenfolk, because they are in the forefront of taking care of the family, stressing that the association will continue to advocate for equality and fairness for its members at all times.
