Over 5000 patients have so far been treated in the second phase of the free medical outreach put together by Eunice Spring of Life Foundation, ESLF, an NGO of wife of the Governor of Benue State, Mrs Eunice Ortom.
Addressing a gathering last week, when the outreach was flagged off in Tyowanye, Buruku LGA, Dr. Mrs Eunice Ortom said over 5000 people had so far benefited from the second phase with 84 surgeries so far carried out.
She stated that the outreach was already yielding the intended result which is the wellbeing of the rural dwellers adding that the 3rd phase which will commence in March, 2018 will cover the 276 council wards in the state.
State commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Cecilia Ojabo, expressed the willingness of the ministry to partner the foundation by receiving referrals into existing health facilities for continued care.
Chairman of Buruku LGA, Mrs Tina Sorkaa, expressed confidence that the outreach would help reclaim lives that would have been lost, while Mrs. Ngunan Addingi, member representing Buruku state constituency, appealed for an enlarged coverage of the local government.
The Ter Buruku HRM Hanior called on all Buruku sons and daughters to pull their resources together to replicate what Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom has done through her NGO.
Two beneficiaries, Aondohemba Aho and Roseline Igbabeh, told our correspondent that they have been unable to access healthcare due to lack of funds.
They therefore thanked the governor’s wife for coming to their aid and prayed God to bless her more.
