Bello pledges to complete FCT NUJ secretariat

The Acting Director, Department of Information and Communications, Mrs. Stella Ojeme, has said that the Federal Capital Territory Administration is committed to the completion of the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat.  

Ojeme said the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, is a friend of the press and is passionate about journalists having an enabling environment to practice their profession, hence, the determination to complete the secretariat in the just released 2017 budget.  

She stated this during the courtesy visit of the National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Mr Waheed Odusile, to the department. 

Ojeme, used the occasion to commend the recent biometrics introduced by the National Union, noting that the exercise has raised the bar for the practice of the profession.  

In his remarks, the NUJ National President, Mr. Waheed Odusile, said the FCTA is an important stakeholder and that unionism is about ensuring that people's rights are given to them.  

Odusile, noted that the weigh-in allowances was designed to take care of the odd hours that journalists have to work, just as he called for the cooperation of all journalists.
