FCT transport scribe seeks NURTW support

Secretary FCT Transport Secretariat, Hon. Kayode Opeifa has solicited the
support of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in achieving
the objective of repositioning transportation services in the nation's
capital,

Opeifa reiterated the Federal Capital Territory Administration's resolve to
empower transporters, by making the environment more conducive for
business.

The transport secretary who spoke while on a courtesy visit to NURTW
national President, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, at its headquarters in Garki, also
revealed that that the FCT Administration is going to hold a two day
sensitization campaign to tackle the issue of security and illegal
operations within the transport sector.

Opeifa warned that government would make life very difficult for those
coming to cause problems for others in the public transport sector and the
general public.

"As a major operator in FCT, the NURTW remains a critical stakeholder in
the quest to reposition public transportation system in FCT. We should be
able to make union members millionaires, by helping them to develop their
businesses to an advanced level," he said.

Earlier, NURTW National President assured the government of support in
order to achieve the laudable transport objectives in the FCT, just as he
praised the FCT Transport Secretary for deeming it fit to visit the union,
and pledged their readiness to ensure he succeeds in office.
