FCT students to get scholarship Allowance

Chairman of FCT Scholarship Board, Alh. Abubakar Giri, has given an indication that the board would provide scholarship assistance to qualified students who applied for bursary.

Giri, who is the former chairman of Gwagwalada area council, disclosed this to The Abuja Inquirer after the inauguration of the board by the FCT minister, Muhammad Bello in Abuja.

He called on parents to complement government gesture in the area of enrolling them in schools, adding that at present government cannot carry on the responsibility alone.

The chairman implored members of the political class to cultivate the habit of sending their wards to public school, just as he assured residents of the six area councils that he would work tirelessly to ensure they get the scholarship as at when due.

He tasked youths in the FCT to endeavor to go for further education that the board under his watch would continue to provide necessary assistance to indigent students.

Giri also assured that he would liaise with the FCT Education Secretary to review the scholarship upward with a view to enabling the students to meet the current challenges of rising costs of goods and services as well as registration fees.
