Group seeks partnership with health ministry
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has said that Nigeria stands to gain a lot by aligning with organisations who were able to offer innovative and transformative opportunities that would accelerate healthcare delivery in the country.
Adewole said this while speaking with officers from IntraHealth International, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, and DAI Global Health, who paid him a visit in Abuja.
According to Adewole, the federal government was ready to partner with any capable organisation to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all Nigerians in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.
To this end, the minister said the ministry was poised to experiment on new models which could be replicated conveniently in all states of the federation.
He, however, harped on the need to be innovative by integrating necessary deliverables targeted at making any model adopted sustainable in the long run.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the president/CEO, IntraHealth International, Pape A. Gaye, said the aim of their visit was to seek areas of possible collaboration in primary health care service delivery through Public Private Partnership, PPP, arrangement, in the spirit of Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.
The alliance, Gaye said would assist Nigeria with the enormous task of improving health care delivery especially at the grassroots level.
