2019 polls: APC, FG plan to humiliate Ekweremmadu, others - PDP
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the federal government and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of plans to humiliate Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremmadu.
Also to be humiliated are Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti and his Rivers state counterpart, Nyesom Wike.
Addressing journalists at a press conference, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Kola Olodbondiyan, said the party will explore all available means within the law in a democratic setting to stop what he called the ill plans of the federal government and the APC.
“In our country today, there is an orchestrated plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the federal government to use the state apparatus of power to coerce, emasculate and effectively decapitate opposition and the dissenting voices, to foist a one-party state and push a self-succession for President Muhammadu Buhari, seeing that the chances of winning the presidential election gets slimmer by the day.
“Currently, the APC has fully commenced a major onslaught on leaders and key voices in the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, particularly our state governors, opposition leaders in the National Assembly as well as our presidential hopefuls”, he alleged.
The PDP also listed state governors on the platform of the party, opposition leaders in the National Assembly as well as the party’s presidential hopefuls as soft targets of the federal government for possible arrest and humiliation.
“You are already aware of the numerous exposed plots by the APC and its federal government to frame up and humiliate the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, as well as the PDP governors Nyesom Wike and his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose.
“We know that the governors, especially Governor Wike and Fayose have been marked because of their principle position against the obvious incompetence, corruption and undemocratic credentials of Buhari's administration, for which Nigerians have been subjected to the worst form of suffering”, he said.
