was planning a ‘collabo’ with Ras Kimono, says Ara
I was planning a ‘collabo’ with Ras Kimono, says Ara
Aralola Olumuyiwa, the female drummer popularly known as Ara, on Monday said that she was planning to have a musical collaboration with the late Ras Kimono before his death.
She told the News Agency of Nigeria that the ‘collabo’ would have included Majek Fashek and other reggae musicians.
Ara said this while expressing her shock over the death of the Reggae Rastaman.
“I was still planning a collaboration with Ras Kimono, Majek Fashek and other reggae musicians.
“When I discussed it with him, he told me to wait for him to return from his trip to the United States of America but he never went.
“His death hits me badly because he was such a humble and kind hearted fellow. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” she said
Ara added that the repercussion of procrastination had now dawned on her as she would not be able to perform alongside Ras Kimono in the `collabo’.
She said that this was because the Reggae musician had bid the world farewell unannounced.
Ara also said that she met Ras Kimono last week at Sir Shina Peter’s 60th birthday bash and he was looking good.
“I am completely down and surprised because I saw him last week looking healthy only to wake up from my siesta yesterday to hear of his death.
“My condolences to the family and pray that God fills that huge gap his death had created for them and for us in the music industry, ’’ she said.
Ukeleke Elumelu, popularly known as Ras Kimono, 60, died penultimate Sunday in Lagos after a brief illness.
Mr. Eazi pledges N36m to African artistes registered to vote
Mr Eazi, through the yet-to-launch Eazi Sound Foundation, has pledged $100,000 for emerging African artistes registered to vote.
Artistes who have attained a certain level of success in their careers usually use their position to elevate those who are just starting out but Mr Eazi’s number one criterion is peculiar.
He said only artistes registered to vote will be eligible to the fund.
The Banku singer’s pro-politics condition is an obvious push to get the youth more involved in government.
“Eazi Sound Foundation launches 1st August & we have set aside $100,000 for African Emerging artists,” he wrote on Instagram.
“No 1 criteria is you must be registered to vote in your country!”
Ahead of the 2019 election in Nigeria, the youth have been encouraged to register for their permanent voter cards, PVCs, in order to exercise their franchise.
Mr Eazi recently teamed up with UK rapper, Giggs, on his new single ‘London Town‘.

The celebrant, Lady Edith Adirieje, in an emotion laden voice, said "first, I want to appreciate God, because I was deemed to die in 2014, but God spared me and my entire household. He knows why He kept us and allowed me to be 50, I owe Him my life. I also have a semi god, who is my husband, he always looks for an opportunity to bring out the best in me. I honour him and I feel like a 30 year old girl married to a 35 year old.”
