Peace building: NOA, National Troupe partner on Green Grass

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, is partnering with the National Troupe to promote peace building through the ‘Sharing the Green Grass Initiative.’

Speaking at a peaceful dialogue in resolving inter-communal disputes and violent conflicts between Fulani herders and farmers in the country, the Director General, NOA, Dr. Garba Abari, explained that “the NOA, is partnering with the National Troupe of Nigeria and other stakeholders to deploy peace messages that call for a rethink."

He noted that, "the Sharing the Green Grass advocacy being embarked upon is a stop gap measure aimed at encouraging accommodation within this period while the Federal Government is making assiduous efforts to roll out long lasting solutions.

"The strategy aims to use the community theatre effort by herders and farmers themselves to restore peaceful dialogue, negotiation and cooperation in inter- communal relations, centred on religion and ethnic tolerance."

The Artistic Director, National Troupe of Nigeria, Comrade Tar Ukoh, said that the project is aimed at using culture to promote peaceful coexistence, because conflicts are necessary in life.

He said that the areas where peace exist that they have agreed to share the Green Grass within their communities.
