FG, ROCHE partner on provision of health services
The federal government has partnered with Roche Pharmaceutical Industry to improve the health system in the country.
The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, revealed this while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of Roche Pharmaceutical, Dr. Severin Schwan in his office in Abuja.
The minister, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Abdulaziz M. Abdullahi, said that federal government is ready to work with Roche to improve the healthcare delivery system.
He assured the delegation that Nigeria would always create enabling environment for pharmaceutical industries to thrive.
He added that Nigeria has developed five years Nigerian National Cancer Control Plan 2018-2022, has spelt out strategies for the management and treatment of cancer.
Earlier, the CEO, Roche Pharmaceutical, Dr. Severin Schwan, said that his visit to Nigeria gave him firsthand information about the health system of the country.
He called on federal government to increase National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS coverage, just as he said cancer treatment is expensive.
He noted that making drugs available and affordable to Nigerians would reduce the number of Nigeria moving abroad for medical tourism.
