Ahead of song release, Wizkid shows off son, Zion
Ayo Balogun, popularly called Wizkid, has been sharing videos of his third son, Zion on his social media pages.
Wizkid, who hinted that he would be releasing a new single on Friday shared two videos of his baby son, off his Instagram and Snapchat pages, on his Twitter handle, @wizkidayo.
He shared one video, captioned ‘The don’, where Zion was seen trying out his walking skills as he navigated a doorway.
A few steps out of the doorway, he went back to crawling.
In the second video, Zion was seen having a peekabo moment, as he played with curtains, while the person behind the camera said, “It looks like you woke up happy today.”
Wizkid is a father of three boys.
Ogun to build museums in memory of Fela, Ogunde, others
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, on Friday, said his administration would construct a film village and museums in memory of music and theatre icons from the state.
Amosun said some of the music and theatre icons would include late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and late Herbert Ogunde among others.
The governor made the remarks at the 3rd National Convention of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria, held in Abeokuta.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Amosun bagged the award of “TAMPAN Man of the Year”.
Amosun said that the proposed film village and museums were to be sited along Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway and would start before the 2019 general elections.
He promised to do more for the state and for Theatre Arts, saying: “the reward for hard work is more work and this will spur me to do more’’.
Soyinka emerges winner of Miss Nigeria UK pageant
Nigeria’s Temi Soyinka has emerged winner of the 5th annual ceremony of the prestigious Miss Nigeria UK cultural beauty pageant.
Mr and Miss Nigeria UK is organised annually to expose the cultural values of Nigeria in the diaspora. The confirmation was made on the Bellanaijaonline Instagram handle on Thursday. The event is not celebrated just for entertainment but also to inculcate Nigerian cultures on Nigerians born and brought up in the UK.
14 finalist from around UK competed for the coveted position of the Queen for the 2018/2019 session.
This year’s grand finale was held in St Mary’s Venue Marylebone, London. Soyinka would work with many organisations that supports and enriches the Nigerian culture as well as work with organisations in Nigeria.
The Royal Air Maroc has also provided prize flight tickets for the queen.
Similarly, Adedoyin George and Olamide Oni emerged the 1st and 2nd runners-up. Soyinka, a graduate of Architecture, is working on a project that would get young people internship and work experience in different fields of endeavours.
Soyinka has also created her own make-up line which would be released soon.
Davido’s song ‘If’ tops Shazam New York City chart
Nigerian singer Davido’s hit single “IF” has emerged number one on the New York ‘Shazam’ chart for songs that listeners in the United States city have searched for its identity.
Shazam is a popular app used by millions of music lovers around the globe each month to identify a song that is playing at each moment.
The app also provides details such as the artist’s name and title of the particular song playing at the time.
As at Thursday October 11, the song stands at number one on the Shazam’s chart above Lil Wayne’s hit ‘Uproar’, Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode’ and ‘Backin It Up’ by Pardison Fontaine featuring Cardi B, among others.
This makes Davido the first Nigerian artist ever to be number one on the charts in the US.
In a swift reaction, elated Davido took to his Instagram page to express delight over the report.
He wrote: “We got the most Shazam song in New York!!! Its Lit!!
“My old records Just breaking, imagine what the new ones will do !”
This feat has added another accolade to Davido’s richly adorned cap, especially in recent times.
Earlier in the year, he clinched the Best International Act trophy at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
The “Assurance Crooner” was also recently nominated, alongside Nigerian female music sensation Tiwa Savage for the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) in the Best African Act category.
