DRTS moves to eliminate rickety, unpainted

FCT Director of Directorate of Road Traffic Services, DRTS, Engr. Aliyu Bodinga, has said that the directorate would intensify patrol to eliminate rickety and unpainted taxis plying roads within the Federal Capital Territory.

He disclosed this to The Abuja Inquirer while commenting on the measure his leadership has taken to ensure motorists were not using vehicles that are not road worthy.

The director, who explained the rationale behind the directorate proposed policy on the use of air conditioned taxis in the FCT, noted that the essence is to ensure road worthiness of a vehicle.

Bodinga also noted that DRTS had deploy patrol officers in strategic location to ensure sanity in the FCT roads, even as he said that during the ember months attention would be focused on road worthiness of vehicles instead of checking vehicle particulars.

He implored transporters to invest huge resources in transportation business in the FCT with a view to bringing new vehicles to replace rickety ones, just as he enjoined commuters to desist from patronizing Okada and unpainted commercial vehicles.

Bodinga stated that the directorate would continue to contribute its quota towards ensuring free vehicular movement during the peak hour in the FCT, just as he tasked motoring public to plan their journey during the forthcoming yuletide.
