2019: foundation tasks politicians on peace
Ahead of the 2019 general election, a non-governmental organization, Caleb Danladi Foundation, has urged aspirants vying for political office to preach peace and encourage their supporters to shun acts capable of disrupting public peace.
Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Mr. Caleb Danladi, who gave the charge in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, urged successful politicians to prioritize the safety of lives and property as soon as they assume office.
Danladi’s remarks come on the heels of sporadic breakdown of law and order in some parts of Nigeria, which has raised concerns in some quarters that there could be disruption of the 2019 general election in those parts of the country.
He said “we urge them to ensure they use their offices, if elected, to promote peace and provide welfare particularly social amenities, health infrastructures and education. Safety of lives and property should be given priority.”
Speaking further on activities of the foundation, he said the organization has embarked on building of blocks of classrooms in Kampani community, Jaba LGA of Kaduna state, adding that the project was aimed at supporting the education of children by providing a conducive atmosphere for learning.
“Some of the projects embarked upon by the foundation include: provision of relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs), donation of medication and medical facilities to rural areas.
