LEA scribe tasks parents, NGOs on provision of facilities in Gwas
The education secretary in charge of Local Education Authority, LEA, in Gwagwalada area council, Hajiya Safiya Tukura, has tasked parents, corporate organization and non-governmental organisation, NGOs, to complement government in the provision of facilities in primary schools in the area.
She made this known in a chat with our correspondent in her office while responding to the shortage of toilet facilities in some primary school in Gwaggwalada, noting that the problem was the number of the pupils are above the facilities provided.
The LEA scribe appreciated the contributions of a non-governmental organizations for construction of toilet facility in Dobi primary school, noting that the project has reached 80 percent completion, just as she expressed optimism that the pupils of the school would start using the facility on resumption for the next term academic activities.
Tukura appreciated the chairman of the council, Hon. Mustapha Adamu for giving priority attention to the development of basic education in the area as well as boosting the morale of teachers through prompt payment of salaries and entitlement.
The education secretary also lauded the leadership of FCT Universal Education Board, UBEB, for the ongoing renovation of Anguwan Doda, Dukpa and LEA new Kutunku primary schools, adding that the act would in no small measure give both teachers and pupils a befitting learning and teaching environment
Tukura reiterated the need for parents to regard education as a collective responsibility, just as she called on parents and guidance in Gwagwalada and environs not to organize holiday lessons for the children, noting that the essence of holidays is to allow the pupils to rest.
She implored teachers in the council to reciprocate government gesture by showing commitment and dedication to their duties and by impacting requisite knowledge
