FCT SEB director bags meritorious award
A youth organisation under the aegis of African Youth for Peace Assembly, AYPA, has awarded the acting director and secretary of FCT Secondary Education Board, Mrs. Nanre Emeje, with the "African Personality Amazon” award for service delivery.
Speaking during the event on behalf of the group the executive secretary of the youth organization, Comrade Yakubu Michael, said the award was in recognition of the director’s commitment and remarkable contributions towards the education sector.
According to him, the various activities in the sector has enhanced the quality service in the teaching and learning process in FCT Senior Secondary Schools.
He said, the nationalistic disposition of the recipient in discharging her duty to improve service delivery in the education, national peace, human capacity development, youths and students empowerment, open door policy as well as charity to the less privilege has endeared her to the youth assembly.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Jacob Abimaje, Head of Division, Planning and Development of the board, said it is heartwarming to see African youths coming together to develop its own continent, noting that things have really fallen apart hence the need for everyone to rise up to his or her responsibility when opportunity beckons.
In her response, the recipient, Mrs. Nanre Emeje said the award came to her as a surprise.
She explained that she is passionate about the young people and children because they constitute the larger percentage of society’s population hence they cannot be ignored and their age is the critical time to take decision and direct their destiny.
