Abuja natives drum support for Bello’s reappointment

Following President Muhammadu Buhari's pronouncement that only people of integrity will form his next cabinet, natives of Abuja have called for the reappointment the present Federal Capital Territory minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, for another term.

The natives under the aegis of FCT Citizens Against Bad Governance made the call in a statement signed by its coordinator, Comrade Yunusa Yusuf, and made available to our correspondent.

He said, the call has become necessary in view of the achievements recorded and prudent management of scarce resources by the incumbent FCT minister in the past three and half years of his administration.

The group however acknowledged that before now, the FCT minister has received several criticisms from opposition parties including FCT Citizens Against Bad Governance, but after a careful evaluation of his performance, vthe group has resolved to champion his reappointment for continuity of infrastructural development in the territory.

The statement reads in part; "It is a known fact that FCT Citizens Against Bad Governance has in several fora criticized the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, and we will continue to do so when the need arises.

"However, after a careful evaluation of his performance in office, we find out albeit late that he has surpassed previous FCT ministers in various ways. First, his transparency and prudent management of public funds is equal to none. Secondly, his zeal to complete abandoned infrastructures across the territory shows a true leader who have the interest of the people at heart.

"On the other hand, Abuja natives have recorded the highest political appointments under his administration, and above all, his none interference with the people's mandate during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections are true marks of integrity and honesty which Mr. President is seeking for.

"We are therefore compelled to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to retain his portfolio as FCT Minister in his next cabinet not for selfish reasons, but for the sake of continuity of developmental stride recorded in the last three and half years of Bello's administration.

"It is our view therefore, that if FCT must move to the Next Level, President Muhammad Buhari should bring back this man of integrity as FCT Minister".
