FCTA builds capacity of 557 staff in three years
The FCT Administration has so far built the capacity of a total of 557 staff from 2016 to 2019.
At the moment, 237 staff are in various study programmes in different higher institutions across the nation.
This disclosure was made in Enugu recently at the 5th FCT Minister's Press Corps Retreat by Dr. Lazarus Gaza, Director, FCT Human Resources Development.
Gaza, who was represented by Nnamani Albert, principal admin officer in the department, explained that 382 officers were granted study leave with pay, while 175 staff were granted study leave without pay, stressing that so far, only 200 staff are pending.
He said FCT has made considerable progress in manpower develop and that the result is showing in the input of staff so far.
Gaza commended some international donors that have assisted in facilitating the trainings like Japan International Cooperation Agency, JAICA; Korean International Cooperation Agency, KOICA; as well as Chinese government that have been involved in facilitating trainings in Water Board, AEPB, Education and FCT hospitals which have already migrated to electronic medical records.
He said that the Chinese government has been involved in capacity building towards complete takeover of Abuja Light Rail by FCT staff.
He, however decried the recurrent decimal of poor funding, late release of funds and late passage of FCT budgets, just as he also decried the non releaee of funds for training.
He warned that departments in FCT Administration should stop diverting funds for staff training for the training of political office holders.
