FCT perm sec hails Korea educational support

The permanent secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, has expressed the appreciation of the people of the FCT to the Government of the Republic of Korea for its contribution to the educational development of the territory. 

Ohaa gave the commendation at the Nigeria/Korea Model School Piwoyi, Abuja during the visit of the Deputy Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Hon. Lee Ju Young to the school. 

He also used the occasion to laud the Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, Woochan Chang for her efforts towards the timely completion of the Nigeria/Korea Model School. 

He said: “I will like to use this opportunity to appreciate the government of the Republic of Korea and International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, for their continuous collaboration and cooperation with the FCTA. I commend especially the Country Director of KOICA for her determination to see to the completion of this school on schedule”. 

He described the establishment of Nigeria/Model school as a proof of fruitful and beneficial relationship that exists between both countries. 

His words: “It is also my pleasure to welcome you to the Nigeria-Korea Model School which is the result of a very fruitful relationship between the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Government of the Republic of Korea”. 

According to the permanent secretary, the Nigeria/Korea Model School has impacted positively on the lives of various stakeholders either in form of teachers training or the promotion of quality education which is being enjoyed by the students and teachers of the school. 

He further said: “I believe that all the stakeholders on the project have benefitted in one way or the other from the project, either through the training of teachers or the advancement of a standard education that is now being enjoyed by the students and teachers of the Nigeria-Korea Model school”. 

In his remarks, the deputy speaker, who described the relationship between Nigeria and Korea as mutually beneficial also disclosed that Government of Korea would take charge of the maintenance of the school on permanent basis. 

The visitors were entertained by traditional dances by pupils and students of the school. 

It may be recalled that the Nigeria/Korea Model school which was constructed and donated to the FCT by the Korean International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, was commissioned last year by President Muhammadu Buhari.
