FCT DRTS cautions residents against okada

The Director of Directorate of Road Traffic Services, DRTS, Engr. Aliyu Bodinga, has cautioned residents of FCT to avoid patronising okada riders operating in the city centres.

He made this known in a chat with our correspondent, stressing that the ban onokada is still in force within the prohibited areas.

He implored okada riders and Keke operators to abide by the FCT traffic laws, just as he warned that patronising okada is a serious threat to safety.

The DRTS boss reminded members of the public on the need to be aware that the ban on the operation of motorcycles operation took effect since 2004.

He called on the executives of okada and kekeoperators in the territory to guide their members to abide by the law, warning that the directorate would continue with enforcement with a view to arresting offenders.

Bodinga solicited the cooperation of residents and commuters to understand the rationale behind the DRTS directives, encouraging them not to patronise okada conducting business in prohibited areas in the city centres.
