FG releases list of admission into Unity Colleges
The Federal Government has approved the release of the admission list of successful candidates into the 104 Federal Unity Colleges, FUCs, for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, Arc Sonny Echono, who gave the approval, last Thursday in Abuja, said provisional admissions into
JSS1 in all the colleges were on the notice boards of the colleges and their websites.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, Mr Ben Bem Goong, said the admission list is also displayed on the national Examinations Council, NECO’s, website, http:htt//www.neco.gov.ng as well as that of the Ministry, www.education.gov.ng.
It further noted that Echono announced that students who have been offered provisional admission have two weeks after the release of the results to accept the offer, otherwise, they would be replaced by other candidates.
Recall that no fewer than 75, 635 candidates sat for the 2019 Common Entrance Examination into the 104 Federal Unity Colleges in April 2019.
The examination which was conducted by the National Examinations Council, NECO, was expected to fill only 25,000 admission spaces in all 104 unity schools across the country.
While monitoring the exercise in Abuja, former Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Arc. Sonny Echono, said President Muhammdu Buhari has given directives to expand the facilities in the colleges to provide more admission spaces.
Adamu said the federal government has begun the renovation and rehabilitation of the colleges across the country, adding that the rehabilitation exercise include replacement of broken toilets, ceilings, creation of additional classrooms and the renovation of existing ones.
