Mabila hydro power project to take off this year
The senator representing Taraba Central under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Yusuf Abubakar, has hinted that the multi-billion naira Mambila hydro- power project would take off this year.
The lawmaker, who disclosed this in a chat with The Abuja Inquirer in his office, noted that federal government would soon mobilise contractors handling the project to site.
Abubakar, who was the immediate past Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, for signing the contract, just as he added that when completed power supply would improve in the north east and some parts of the country.
The senator also noted that he would continue to lobby his colleagues to give the necessary support to the executive arm to ensure effective take off of the project during dry season.
He assured the people of the state of quality representation in the senate, noting that at present two bills were in the offing for the establishment of Federal College of Education Mutum Biyu and Tea and Coffee in the Mambila Plateau.
Commenting on the relationship between the executive and legislative arm, the lawmaker assured Nigerians that there would be a harmonious working relationship between the two arms, pointing out that APC members were able to put their house in order to prevent the reoccurrence of bad precedence that occurred during the 8th Assembly.
The senator appealed to Nigerians to support good programmes and policies of the APC-led government designed to meet the yearning and aspirations of the less privileged.
