FG upgrades COA Zuru to varsity

The Federal Government has upgraded Federal College of Agriculture Zuru, Kebbi State into a Federal University of Agriculture.

The move follows assent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Bill establishing the institution, which was earlier passed by the 8th National Assembly.

College of Agriculture Zuru was established in 1976 but in April 2019, the 8th Senate approved the upgrade of the institution to a university.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senate, Sen. Ita Enang, said at a news conference in Abuja that by giving assent, the institution had been upgraded from a Federal College of Agriculture to a full-fledged Federal University of Agriculture with all the powers of its status.

Enang said the Architects Registration Council Amendment Bill which had increased the penalty fee of N1,000 to N500,000 was also signed by the President into law.
