AMAC chair wants automatic employment for best UniAbuja graduate
The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon. Abdullahi Candido, has called for the automatic absorption of Miss Talatu Adamu, the best graduating student of the University of Abuja as a lecturer.
He made this demand when the council hosted and honoured Ms Adamu of the Chemistry Department, who emerged Best Graduating Student with highest grade.
According to him, "we feel elated that we have gotten one who has made us proud, we never had it before. In her department, she is the best, with highest grade point.
"Also, in the overall faculty, she is the best, and in the entire university she emerged the best. I told the chairman of Kuje (her Area Council of origin) that he must go all the way to ensure that this girl is given what is due to her.
"And if the Kuje chairman fails to do so, he should gather all the area council chairmen, we must march to the office of the Vice Chancellor and get these things done, because she deserves it.
"This is a message to Abuja Indigenous Students Association, AISA, that one of you has made us proud. We are not looking at her from any perspective of what religion, or what language she is from, we are seeing her as an Abuja person."
While making a cash donation of the sum of N500,000 to the girl, to help her further education, Candido thanked the parents for helping the her in achieving the feat, and I encouraged them to keep it up.
Responding, Ms. Adamu thanked the AMAC chairman for the gesture promised to be an advocate for girl-child education in the FCT and Nigeria at large.
