Directorate empowers 1, 500 FCT pupils

Directorate of Conflict Resolution and Inter-Faith Matters in collaboration with League of Extra-Ordinary FCT Persons has empowered over 1500 orphans and less privilege pupils in the six area council. 

 The convener of the event, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed, said that the essence of the programme was to assist the less privilege and vulnerable people, adding that the platform has institutionalised a system to give necessary support to primary schools pupils. 

He reiterated commitment of the directorate of sustaining its laudable ideals of giving indigents pupils in the six area councils’ sense of belonging.   

The director revealed that the beneficiaries were picked from primary 1 to 6, pointing out that the FCT Senator Philip Aduda, and other stakeholders have already key into the directorate laudable programme. 

The Executive Director, Centre for Gbari Research and Documentation Abuja, Dr. Midah Ayuba, while presenting a paper at the occasion tiled: "The role of traditional rulers and religious leaders in synergy with political leaders a veritable tool for good governance and violent free society, " said traditional rulers and religious leaders by their standing in the society have enormous responsibility in ensuring that peace prevail in their communities. 

He appealed to government at all levels and international organizations to place the role of traditional authority and religious Leaders firmly on their agenda for development and governance, noting that, they should be encouraged especially in mediation to be able to have local ownership of peace processes. 

The occasion featured presentation of cash donation to beneficiaries and unveiling of instructional materials.
