FCT SEB honours veterans, stakeholders
One of the FCT Secondary Education Board Schools, Government Day Secondary School, Gwagwalada, has honoured 10 individuals for their ‘positive contributions’ to the development of the school and educational system in the territory.
In his message, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Christian Ohaa, urged the graduating students to continue to ensure they sustain the morals and sound education impacted in them and be a good ambassador of their Alma- mater, family, society and nation at large.
Ohaa, who was represented by the director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Lazarus Gaza, stated that the FCT Administration will not relent in its efforts to continue to create a conducive academic environment for all FCT schools while making education accessible and affordable to all its residents.
He advised the FCT schools’ heads to be role models and lay a solid moral and academic foundation for the students under their custody.
In his remarks, chairman of the board, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, who was represented by the director, Mrs Nanre Emeje, described education as the bedrock of development in society.
He advised the graduating students to shun every vices capable of jeopardizing their dreams of furthering their education, adding that education is a beam of light and root of wisdom to those who strive hard to get it.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of various awards to the various personalities which include the FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Christian Ohaa, Sen. Philip Aduda, Dr Aboki Zhawa, Mr Kyauta Yepwi, the Pioneer Principal of the School, Alhaji Hussaini Akwanga, Hajia Ramatu Ibrahim, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, the Aguma of Gwagwalada, among others.
