Lawmaker reiterates call for ministerial slot for Abuja natives

Member representing Abuja South Federal Constituency, Hon. Hassan Sakodabo, has said that he would lobby his colleagues to sponsor a bill mandating the executive arm to consider FCT indigenes for ministerial slot.

He disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Abaji, noting that FCT legislators would continue to seek for the understanding of their colleagues in the National Assembly to give accurate definition on the clause in the constitution that stipulates that the FCT should be considered as one of the states in the federation.

Sakodabo tasked his colleagues to look at the issue holistically and treat it as a matter of national importance, just as he expressed concern why FCT in some aspects is considered as state, while in ministerial nomination it is treated differently.

"We are pained that the FCT until now, no indigene of the Federal Capital Territory is given ministerial appointment," he lamented.

He insisted that they would continue to use peaceful channels to convince the executive arm to appoint an FCT indigene who would represent them in the federation executive council meeting.

According to him, what we want is that one of us should be nominated and could be assigned any portfolio not necessary heading the Federal Capital Territory.
