Rural roads: FCTA pledges speedy intervention

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, through its Satellite Towns Development Department, STDD, has expressed resolve to continue embarking on speedy rehabilitation on all rural roads in the territory.

The director, STDD, Engr. Felix Nwankwo, appealed for calm from all residents especially those affected by flooding particularly in Mashafa, Gudupe Bamboyi and Dankubo villages of Bwari Area Council who recently called for intervention on their roads.

He indicated that the roads in question are currently undergoing procurement, revealing that technical bids have been done and evaluated.

Nwankwo explained that as soon as there is an approval on these, financial bids will be completed leading to the award of contracts.

The director further reiterated that the administration is very much aware of the issues on the Mpape-Mashafa road, stressing that a new design of the road has been done which included three numbers of 3×3 box culverts replacing the existing pipe culverts (multiple) which will serve the people better.

He also implored the chairman of Bwari area council, Shekwogaza Gabaya, and the rest of the communities that government is doing everything possible in ensuring that all dilapidated roads in the Federal Capital Territory are fixed on time.
