Police arraign woman over trespass, threat to life

The FCT police command has arraigned a 52 years old businesswoman, Madina Mohammed, in Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged trespass and threat to life.

Mohammed, who allegedly trespassed into a plot of land belonging to one retired Air Commodore Raymond Peter, also threatened to deal with him.

The defendant, a resident of Panama Street, Maitama, Abuja, was docked on a two-count charge bordering on criminal trespass and intimidation.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel Kufreabasi Ebong, told the court that Peter reported the matter at the FCT Police Command, Abuja, on August 15, 2018.

Ebong alleged that the defendant trespassed into the complainant’s land situated at plot 925 Katampe, Maitama, Abuja and when he confronted her, she threatened to deal with him.

The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant had persistently been threatening the complainant’s life.

Ebong said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 397 of the Penal Code.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against her.

The defence counsel, Etta Effiong made a bail application for his client The Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Mohammed, granted the defendant a N2 million bail, with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned to Dec.18 for further hearing.
