Christmas: Police, residents plot against criminals in Jikwoyi
Ahead of Christmas and New Year festivities, the police and residents have held a security meeting in Jikwoyi on how to tackle criminal activities in the area.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Fabian Samuel thanked the DPO for the stakeholders meeting, noting that it would in no small measure give residents’ confidence of working in synergy with the police.
He tasked the residents to regard crime fighting and control as a collective responsibility in order to help the police succeed in the fight against crime.
On his part, a vigilante member, Malam Rilwan Kasim, told gathering that police recently arrested a suspected cult member, recovered stolen vehicles and a woman stealing in a farm at night.
Contributing, the DPO in- charge of Jikwoyi, CSP Abubakar Adamu, assured the residents that adequate security measures were in place to checkmate crime during and after the ‘ember months.
He noted constant patrol and raiding of black spots would be intensified and appealed to the stakeholders not to relent in their effort of furnishing security agents with useful information.
The meeting was well attended by traditional and religious leaders, traders, and tricycle operators as well as members of the PCRC and vigilante.
