FCTA grants approval for water project in Bwari fish farm

In furtherance of efforts to boost fish production and meet the growing fish demand within and outside the Federal Capital Territory, contract has been awarded for the extension of water to the FCT Fish Farm Estate, Bwari.

The Director Admin and Finance of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat Mr. Ibe Chukwuemeka, said the provision of water supply will ensure the full take off farming activities in the estate.

He added that contracts have also been awarded for the provision of all other necessary infrastructures in the estate, including provision of electricity, access road and drainage, adequate security and fencing of the entire estate.

On her part, the director of fisheries in the secretariat, Mrs. Ifeoma Okeke, said the Agric and Rural Development Secretariat has given marching orders to all the contractors concerned to immediately mobilise to site and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract agreement.

She advised allottees to make necessary arrangements to ensure that they commence fish production by the middle of the year when all the  infrastructures would have been provided, warning that the administration will not hesitate to revoke any plot not in use by the end of the year.

Recall that the Minister of State for FCT,  Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, during her familiarisation visit expressed the desire of the Administration to ensure that efforts will be made to ensure that the project is repositioned to realise its objective of not only boosting fish production, improving nutritional intake but also as a source of income to beneficiaries.
