180 contractors bid for 60 AMAC projects
No fewer than 180 contractors have participated in the bidding process for 60 capital procurement projects recently advertised by the Abuja Municipal Area council, AMAC.
Declaring the bid open, AMAC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Candido, said the projects cut across the twelve wards of the area council.
Represented by the Chairman of AMAC Tender Board, Mrs. Ramat Abdullahi, Candido assured the bidders of a transparent selection process, adding that fair judgement will be applied in the final decision.
"We want to ensure that the process will be very transparent, in line with the 2007 Public Procurement Act; as you can see, they are opening the bid one after the other," she said.
The AMAC chairman further stated that immediately after bid opening, the technical committee will review the documents thoroughly and successful bidders who have fulfilled the requirements will be contacted to take off the projects.
Deputy Speaker, AMAC Legislative Council, Mr Dogara Bassa, noted that the legislative arm of the council made appearance in the tender opening of bids of projects for the first time.
Dogara, commended the Tender Board for the transparency in the bidding process and pledged to provide necessary legislative backing for the efficient execution of the projects.
One of the bidders, Engr. Emmanuel Bassa, commended the bidding process adopted by AMAC, describing it as transparent and in line with the procurement practices.
The formal bidding saw the board's officials reading out the figures and other details of the bid, including technical and financial parts.
