Covid-19: JAMB orders disinfectant sprayers from NASENI

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has placed an order for locally-produced disinfectant sprayers from the National Agency for Science Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, to combat the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

The board said in its weekly bulletin released over the weekend, that the order was placed at its meeting with the top Management of NASENI in Abuja on Friday.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, at the meeting, said the entire workers at the board’s headquarters and outstations would be sanitised before and after closing on a daily basis during the phased reopening.

According to Oloyede, the board would not compromise the safety of its staff as it complies with the directive on the gradual easing of the lockdown.

The JAMB boss said before resuming as directed by relevant agencies of government, the board had decontaminated its headquarters and all its other offices across the nation.

He noted that the procurement of the equipment from NASENI would be an extra layer of protection for the staff.

While commending NASENI for providing needed support to the nation at a critical time through its innovations, he urged the organisation to review the cost of its products downward so as to ensure wider patronage.

Oloyede also advised the agency to work on the aesthetics of the machines in order to compete favourably with those produced abroad.

“NASENI Disinfectant Safety Sprayers have  come handy even as we look forward to consolidating on our partnership with you and other similar organisations towards deploying more locally-produced equipment,” he said.

Also speaking, the Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI, Prof. Mohammad Haruna, commended the patriotism of JAMB at a period when many are fixated on foreign products.
Haruna assured Oloyede that the equipment would meet all the specifications agreed upon with the board in terms of aesthetics, added features and durability.

NASENI had recently launched a range of technology products tagged "COVID-19 interventions" to assist the government to contain the spread of the covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

The locally-manufactured products include ventilators and environmental disinfectant safety sprayers such as NASENI Disinfectant Safety Tunnel O, Disinfectant Safety Tunnel U, the Single-Cham  Disinfectant Sprayer, Keke NASENI Disinfectant Sprayer, as well as Vehicle-Mounted Disinfectant Sprayers, which could be mounted on both trucks and Hilux vans.

The equipment were locally designed and produced by NASENI Engineers to protect Nigerian cities and towns against the virus.
