Sale tasks Abdulaziz-led TCN management on improved power

>Newly-appointed Acting Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Sule Abdulaziz, and his management team have been charged to ensure improved power transmission in the country.

Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, who gave the charge in Abuja during a virtual meeting with the new management, said he looked forward to improved power with the emergence of the new management in place.

Sale also tasked the management of the company to ensure all substation and transmission projects are completed within the shortest possible time.

“I have also tasked them with ensuring dedicated, purposeful and selfless leadership at the TCN. They shall receive all the necessary support and cooperation from the Ministry of Power and My Office. I look forward to improved electricity transmission across the Country,” the minister said.

Recall that President Muhammdu Buhari personally approved the sack of former TCN Managing Director, Usman Mohammed on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the Minister of Power, Sale.

“As part of the continuing measures to reposition and improve the performance of the power sector in the country, the honourable minister of power, Engr Sale Mamman hereby announces major changes at the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

“Accordingly, the Managing Director of the TCN, Usman Gur Mohammed has been removed from office with immediate effect. He is being replaced with Engr Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, as Managing Director, in acting capacity,” the minister said.

Sale further confirmed the appointment of four acting directors as follows: Mr Victor Adewunmi, Executive Director, Transmission Services Provider, M.J Lawal, Executive Director, Independent Systems Operators, Ahmed Isa-Dutse, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts and Justin Dodo, Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services.
