The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Hon. Abdullahi Candido, has donated  his April to June salaries to mitigate the economic impact of Covid-19 in the Area Council.

Candido, who announced the donation in Abuja while attending a mentorship and motivational program organized by the council  for its management staff on Friday, said the donation would go to the council's treasury.

The AMAC Chairman further said in a statement that the gesture  would strengthen and stimulate the economy of the council during the pandemic.

Already, statutory and non statutory cabinet members' salaries and allowances have  been slashed as part of measures  to reduce the wage bill of the council due to effect of COVID-19 on the economy

Candido had directed a 10 per cent cut to the salary of  statutory cabinet members while  non statutory members were to have 5 per cent cut to their 3 months salaries during the period.

According to him, the monthly welfare for widows, orphans and older persons  which took 50 per cent of his salary would be suspended till July.
