FG inaugurates committee on assets, liability
The Federal Government has inaugurated a committee to undertake the identification and transfer of assets from some departments domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said in a statement that the departments from which the assets would be transferred are Rehabilitation and Social Welfare as well as some existing agencies subsumed under the oversight of the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry.
Farouq, who inaugurated the committee in Abuja, noted that the committee has three weeks to submit it's report and make necessary recommendations.
The minister said the committee would ensure the smooth identification and transfer of assets that will greatly facilitate the takeoff of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
The terms of reference of the committee are to obtain updated nominal roll of the two affected departments in order to ascertain the number of staff inherited from the Ministry of Women Affairs, and obtain a comprehensive register of all assets such as building vehicles, office equipment, plant and machinery as well as store items.
The committee is also to identify all legal issues affecting the two departments and take account of them, as well as identify and transfer all unutilised funds appropriated in 2019 budget in respect of the two departments, transfer all policy, procurement and personnel files among other belongings to the two departments and consider any other relevant matter which in the opinion of the committee are important.
Members of the committee include the Permanent Secretary of The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Jalal Arabi and his counterpart Mrs. Ifeoma Nkiruka Anagbogu of the Ministry of Women A ffairs.
