Esports Federation urges PMB to caution Sports Minister
The leadership of the Electronic Sports, Esports Federation, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to call the Minister for Youth and Sports Sunday Dare, to order over the his determination to inaugurate another Esports Federation.
This was made known by the President of the Federation, Clinton Agbor, at a Press Conference recently in Abuja, insisting that the Federation has been in existence since 2017.
He said " We are calling on the youth and sports loving President Muhammadu Buhari, to please call the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, to order, not to destroy the gamers community in Nigeria."
Agbor also wants the President to set up a committee to investigate the role played by the Director of Grassroots Development, at the Ministry, Dr. Ademola Are, in the controversy.
He said "Under this present board of the Esports Federation of Nigeria, we have recorded tremendous achievements without a single support from the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, as time without number the Ministry has made it clear to us that there is no budget for the Federation.
"Despite this limitation from the sports Ministry, we are fully aware of the massive untapped pool of esports talents in Nigeria, that will stop at nothing to play at the international level.
"The future looks brighter as gaming organizations are begging to spring up in Nigeria as a result of our total commitment in the development and promotion of the game."He noted.
