NECO releases 2020 SCCE, BECE, NCE timetables

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the timetable and guidelines for the conduct of its 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, and National Common Entrance, NCE.

NECO Registrar, Prof Godswill Obioma, who released the timetables at a press conference in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday, said the SSCE will begin on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020.

Obioma further disclosed that the  BECE, administered by NECO will hold on August 24 and September 4, while the National Common Entrance into Federal Unity Schools will hold on October 17.

He also provided guidelines for the conduct of the exercises which include preparing examination centres and schools in compliance with Covid-19 protocols; decontamination of examination centres and schools; maintaining prescribed physical and social distancing protocols by candidates and examination officials.

The NECO boss said the institutions must also ensure provision of water and hand washing facilities, sanitizers and face masks by school proprietors, managers, parents and guardians, examination officials, candidates and security officials.

He disclosed that 169,144 students have registered for the Senior School Certificate Examination, while 104,341 students and 80,110 pupils have so far registered for the Basic Examination Certificate Examination and the National Common Entrance Examination, NCE, respectively.
