FCTA vows to prosecute teachers found violating students
The Federal Capital Territory Administration has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring the safety of schools in the territory, as it vows to prosecute any teachers caught molesting students.
Permanent Secretary of the FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola, said the Administration has deployed different strategic plans towards ensuring the security of all schools in FCT.
Adesola who was speaking to students of Junior Secondary School Jiwa, said some of the strategies put in place includes, fencing of schools’ perimeter, provision of additional schools and working in close synergy with security agencies.
Responding to the question on the efforts of the administration to curb the rising cases of sexual molestation of female students by male teachers, the Permanent Secretary said FCT Administration has zero tolerance for such nefarious act.
Fielding question on what measures the Administration has taken so far to address the dearth of instructional materials in some schools in the territory, Adesola disclosed that some of the steps taken so far include; delivery of different instructional materials to some schools in the territory, increasing budgetary provision for schools, partnership with Universal Basic Education Board, among others.
On what the Administration has been doing to deliver quality education to residents of the territory, the Permanent Secretary explained that the FCT Administration is providing quality education to different categories of people in the territory across multi-sectoral levels, such as primary; secondary; tertiary, technical and vocational education.
