JSS Sheretti marks annual inter-house sports competition

Junior Secondary School, JSS, Sheretti, Abuja held her maiden annual inter-house sports competition with the Red House emerging the overall best in most of the track and field events.

Pioneer principal of the school, Mrs Amara Obidigbo, told The Abuja Inquirer that the event was informed by the need to enrich the academic and extracurricular activities of the students.

According to Mrs Obidigbo; “the occasion also aims at bringing our future leaders nearer to their root with a view to affording the parents the opportunity to see their children display their talents in various sporting activities.”

She explained that the various houses that competed at the occasion reflected the six geo-political zones of the country, and meant to enable the students embrace one another’s culture, and other important features from each zone with a view to promote peace, love, unity and harmonious relationship amongst the students.

The principal said that her major challenges were; fencing of the school to avoid continuous incursions, provision of administrative and classroom blocks, provision of toilets for staff and students and recruitment of staff among others.

She commended the FCT education secretariat, UBEB, PTA, staff and students for their support and expressed the confidence that quality will remain the watchword of the management.
