Kuje council moves to complete market construction

Kuje area council has commenced construction of the second phase of the modern market towards boosting business activities in the area.

Speaking to journalists during a demolition exercise of unapproved stalls, the chairman Kuje Area Council, Hon.Ishaku Tete, said the council is making concerted efforts to complete the market and empower the people.

He said before now, the market was a write-off but given the support of shop owners and the area council, the market with modern infrastructural facilities was becoming a reality.

In an interview with the secretary of the council’s construction committee, Mr. Sunday Yaro, he said the committee is working hard to see that the time frame given by the developer is attained.

Some of traders, who spoke to The Abuja Inquirer, Mr. Onah Wilfred and Mrs Nkechinyere Okafor, said they are happy with the development but said the time frame given to them to evacuate their goods was short and appealed to the council to extend the time to January 2016.

On his part, the Chairman Kuje traders association Alhaji Yunusa Isa, said proper consultation was held with genuine traders before the demolition exercise and appealed to those affected to show understanding.
