Amidst cash crunch, FG jerks DTA for civil servants

Amidst cash crunch, the Federal Government has approved the upward review of Duty Tour Allowance, DTA, for federal public servants.

The approval which was conveyed in a circular released by the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, NSIWC, Ekpo Nta, Esq, takes effect from February 1, 2022.

According to the circular, dated 2nd February 2022, President Mohammadu Buhari gave the approval for the increment of DTA for civil servants.

A breakdown of the review showed that Great Levels O1-04 and their equivalent would now receive N10,000 per diem, Great Levels 05-06 and their equivalent would henceforth receive N15,000 per diem, Great Levels 07-10 and their equivalent N17,500 per diem, Great Level 12- 13 and their equivalent N20,000 per diem, while Great Levels 14-15 and their equivalent N25,000 per diem, and Great Levels 16-17 and their equivalent would receive N37,500 per diem.

Previously, Great Levels 1-6 received N5000 per diem and Great Levels 7-14 received N12,000 per diem, while Great Levels 15-17 received N16000 per diem.

The circular with number SWC/S04/S. 6/11/208, was addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ministers/Ministers of State, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Chairmen, Federal Commissions, Federal Permanent Secretaries Clerk of the National Assembly and the Secretary, National Judicial Council.

The circular was also addressed to the Federal Judicial Service Commission, Directors-General and Chief Executives of Parastatals, Agencies and Government-Owned Companies, Auditor-General for the Federation, Accountant-General of the Federation, and Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation.

The circular, titled “Review of Duty Tour Allowance in the Federal Public Service,” further directed all enquiries about to the circular to the commission.
