Registrar tasks NSUK staff on acquisition of digital skills

By Godfrey AKON

The Registrar of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Mallam Bala Ahmed, has challenged the non-teaching staff of the university to intensify efforts in acquiring digital skills.

Ahmed spoke at a meeting with the newly converted non-teaching staff of the university to professional cadres on Friday.

A statement by the university said the registrar noted that moving forward, the acquisition of digital skills will be a prerequisite for the promotion of administrative and bursary staff to higher ranks.

He congratulated the newly converted staff, drawn from the registry, bursary, works and maintenance departments, charging them to brace up for new and exciting challenges ahead, as every promotion comes with additional responsibilities.

The registrar noted that the university management last carried out conversion exercises in 2006 with the Month-to-Month staff of the University, who are now tenured staff.

The current conversion, involving 32 personnel, is the highest, with most of them coming from the Registry Department.

Ahmed also appreciated the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, for supporting and providing the enabling environment for the exercise to take place, explaining that it will not only motivate the staff but also allow them to reach the peak of their chosen careers.

Prominent among the converted staff is the Acting Director of Works, Engr. Kaduna Anzaku and other senior Registry staff of the University.
