Nasarawa varsity raises alarm over hypnotists as 40 students fall victim

By Godfrey AKON

Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, has raised an alarm over the activities of individuals identified as “false religious preachers” operating within student-populated areas.

Chief Security Officer to the university, Lt. Col. John Aboh, Rtd., issued a statement on Monday, revealing that no fewer than 40 students have reportedly fallen victim to the schemes of these hypnotists.

According to Aboh, the university’s security unit received credible information that the preachers were active in the High Court and Angwan Lambu student areas.

“These individuals use mesmerizing performances, hypnotic voices, and a captivating stage presence to leave their audience spellbound, often with far-reaching negative consequences,” he explained.

He further noted, “Under the influence of these illusions, students end up handing over valuable items, including their phones. So far, over 40 students have been victimized by these unscrupulous elements.”

The statement urged both staff and students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agents or the University Security Unit. For immediate action, the university has provided a security hotline: 08137724687.
